So you're having a baby. You think you've thought of everything, but at the same time you're terrified that you've missed something. Here's one thing you may or may not have thought of: laundry. Yes, you know that you will have more, but have you considered the basic differences between your baby's laundering needs and yours? If you regularly use perfumed detergents, bleach, or fabric softener, your laundering habits may need some reform.

Traditional, Classic, And Old World Baby Clothing Dressing Your Baby The Old-School Way

By Kirsten Hawkins | Published 11/28/2005 | Family | Unrated
In today’s world there are nearly as many styles in baby clothing as there are babies crawling about. Parents who want modern clothing can find it at the nearest Wal-Mart, those who desire alternative forms of clothing for their babies can usually find it online, some people make their baby clothing by hand, cutting cloth and sewing together designs from patterns purchased at the nearest Hancock Fabrics location. The choices are nearly limitless and include styles and designs too numerous to mention completely.

Finding The Suit That Suits You

By Shirley Bullington | Published 11/28/2005 | Family | Unrated
"Two thousand dollars for one suit? Are you crazy? I don’t have that kind of money to spend on one suit! Yes, I am well aware of the quality and that it is well worth every penny. I just can’t justify spending that much on one garment. Oh... but I sure would love to have an Armani."

Digital Memories on Display

By Colin Gryphon | Published 11/28/2005 | Family | Unrated
I was surfing the web one afternoon, looking around for a gift for my sister’s birthday. I had absolutely no idea what I was looking for. I wanted to get her something cool. It was her twentieth birthday, after all. I checked out some MP3 players, some cameras, blah, blah, blah.

Buying Baby Clothes At A Discount

By Kirsten Hawkins | Published 11/28/2005 | Family | Unrated
Dressing your little darling doesn’t have to cost a fortune. It is no secret that having and providing for a new baby is an expensive job. With the expense of those all-important early doctor’s visits, necessary items for the nursery, and the rising prices of formula, diapers, and various infant accessories, it seems a wonder that anyone can afford to reproduce anymore.

Mommy & Baby: More Parenting Tidbits

By Kirsten Hawkins | Published 11/28/2005 | Family | Unrated
Diapers: as a rule, most PDF babies will need a diaper change that corresponds with their feeding times. This will total 6-8 diapers per day, or more if you manage to change your baby prior to her pooping. Most new parents learn to “time“ the diaper change to correspond with the after-meal expulsion of solid waste, but if you miss it, you’ll have a few more diapers to go through in the course of the day.

Baby Needs A New Pair Of Shoes

By Kirsten Hawkins | Published 11/28/2005 | Family | Unrated
Baby's first Nike's may be absolutely adorable, but are they necessary? According to most experts - and not just modern ones but for at least the last thirty years - babies don't need shoes till they're up and walking around. Even at that point, it's good for the little tikes to get in lots of barefoot time so they get used to their balance and how their little toesies work.

Baby Names - Considering Your Last Name

By Ian Byrd | Published 11/28/2005 | Family | Unrated
It's overwhelming enough to decide on a perfect first name for your baby, but if you're not considering its effects on your baby's last name you may be setting him up for future disaster. It's easy to overlook how the combination of your baby's first name and last name will work together. Let's look at a few pointers in this area.

The First Pair Of Baby Shoes

By Kirsten Hawkins | Published 11/28/2005 | Family | Unrated
NEVER JUDGE A BABY UNTIL YOU’VE WOBBLED A MILE IN HER WEEBOK’S! Any parent will tell you that there is nothing quite like watching as your child takes her first steps. When little Tom or Katie start to teeter around upright for the first time there are a few messages that should flash through your mind in order of importance. Somewhere after “please don’t fall, oh please don’t fall” and “hmmm“ the ‘out of baby reach’ shelves need to be a bit higher now” should be “time to get the little one some shoes.” And so the hunt for baby shoes begins.

The Great Diaper Debate

By Kirsten Hawkins | Published 11/28/2005 | Family | Unrated
Way back when in the days of Home Ec, one favorite class was 'how to diaper baby'. Turning a flat piece of absorbent cotton into a comfortable, well-fitting nappy was a trick that seemed to require the dexterity and legerdemain of a trained magician. Worse, diapering the baby clumsily came with the very real fear of jabbing a squirming infant with a diaper pin. Generations of mommies suffered pinpricked fingers rather than risk a scratch to baby's delicate skin.
