We are familiar with the word ENVIRONMENT. If you too are familiar, can you guess the meaning of it? Some of us can but rest of us cannot. Environment is nothing but our surroundings. Environment plays an important role in our daily life. It includes all the things around us whether it is near to us or far from us. Do you know at this present age, we are far from pure environment which our ancestors enjoyed a lot? What might be the reason for it? Have you tried to know about it? Surely, the answer will be no. Because, no one normally thinks and cares about the environment around us. Don’t get yourself frustrated!!! I will try to make an attempt to explain it to you in this article.
As it is the industrial era, we all know that the environment is getting polluted which is harmful to us as well as to our surroundings. Now, in recent days, we also have many flourishing industries, which cause different types of pollution. What is this pollution? From where does this pollution take place? Pollution is an act to release harmful things in the environment that causes its destruction. Pollution does not have only one source but it has many sources. Industries release harmful gases such as sulphur dioxide (SO2), carbon dioxide (CO2), etc., which are responsible for acid rains. The classic example of acid rains is Taj Mahal. This famous monument is turning black day by day.
These gases get concentrated in Polar Regions causing holes in the ozone layer, the important layer that protects us from ultraviolet rays of the sun. Holes in ozone layer allow ultraviolet rays to come on earth and gut it. It affects life on earth. It helps to spread various dreadful diseases on earth such as cancer. It’s another effect is high rise in temperature of earth.
Deforestation is another example, which helps in gutting the environment. Trees can control rainfall as well as temperature of earth. Deforestation results in high rise in temperature as well as fluctuation in rain. One classic example of deforestation is about the Thar/Indian desert in Rajasthan in India. Once there used to be dense evergreen forests. Lions, tigers and many other animals used to stay there. But what is the present condition of Rajasthan? It has become entirely a desert. All the animals were killed mercilessly by our forefathers.
Due to all the above-mentioned and many more reasons, life cycles on earth is disturbed causing destruction of life on earth as well as of the blue planet, earth itself. After having a view over these many destruction, this earth will no more be called as blue planet.
So, this is our duty to conserve our environment. Seeing the immediate effect, many laws are imposed. While controlling pollution, we must not be pennywise, pound-foolish. Killing of living creatures must be stopped compulsorily. Instead of killing, we must conserve life on earth. Remember when the buying stops the killing can too.
